CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals, Round 6 – Ste-Julie, QC, July 24-25, 2010
Under perfect blue skies round 6 of the CMRC Motocross Series got underway at the picturesque race track in Ste-Julie, Quebec. Going into the race the Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM team made an appearance at KTM Canada’s home office in nearby St-Bruno for a fan meet and greet. US WORCS champion Mike Brown was in attendance to ride the 350 SX-F for some extra publicity and didn’t disappoint getting good starts and proving the all new machine is competitive on the track.
The Ste-Julie round also played host to the first round of CMRC East Ladies series and Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM’s Kate McKerroll lined up to race her 2010 KTM 150 SX. The Barrie native had some trouble in the first moto going down on the downhill triple but regrouped and ran a strong race in the 2nd moto finishing 4th for the day.
The MX 2 class was full of action as the gate dropped incorrectly in the first moto some of the riders got collected up in the mishap with the gate. After the race continued without what probably should have been a restart, Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM riders were running about mid pack. Eric Nye and Kyle McGlynn were racing their way to the front of the pack on their 250 SX-F’s and passing riders with and charging to the checkered flag. By motos end both riders had moved into the top 10. As the gate dropped for the final MX 2 moto of the day Team Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM riders steered clear of early moto troubles. The #12 of Eric Nye rode a great race until a mid moto crash left him behind the eight ball. Not one to give up Nye put his head down and once again raced into the 5th position giving him 4th overall on the day. Kyle McGlynn finished strong giving him a 10th overall on the day.
The story of the day was Quebec native KTM Duroy Racing, Motosport 4 Saisons’s Kaven Benoit racing his 2010 KTM 250 SX-F to his very first overall victory as well as KTM’s first overall victory for 2010. Kaven nailed both starts rounding the corner in the top 3 and that is where he remained all day going 2-1 for the top spot on the podium.
Orange Motorsports KTM riders also had very successful days in the MX 2 class. Jeremy Medaglia remains in a hunt for the final podium spot for the series and Richard Grey and Nathan Bles each continued to gain points and valuable experience in the Pro class and look to improve their endurance as the series heads east. All 3 OMS riders are riding KTM 250 SX-F’s with backing by KTM dealer Orange Motorsports.
In the MX 1 class Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM’s Ryan Millar blasted around the uphill Ste-Julie start on his KTM 450 SX-F nailing the coveted holeshot. He was followed by a freight train of riders. His teammates Kornel Nemeth and Mike Brown were both buried about mid pack and began to pick one rider off at a time. Nemeth found an extra gear on his 450 SX-F and raced through the pack into 7th place by the time the checkered flag flew. Brown charged his way back up to 12th after finding the ground after a small crash in the back of the track. The Royal Distributing Dunlop riders both nailed the start of Moto 2 with Nemeth in 3rd and Brown in about 6th. Both Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM’s ran in the top 10 for the entire moto. Kornel made a pass into 2nd place early in the race and held off hard charging competitors late in the moto to finish in 3rd place overall. Kornel celebrated his podium win in front of the enthusiastic Ste-Julie crowd. Mike Brown was in a 4 way battle for 5th the entire moto and was looking for that top 5 finish when his front end washed out in a muddy rut and he slipped back to 9th.
Overall it was a great day for KTM Canada and their sponsors as all race machines worked great and all riders competed hard and stayed healthy for round 7 which will take place in Moncton, New Brunswick August 1st, 2010.

RAPPORT DE COURSES HEBDOMADAIRES DE KTM CANADA
Série nationale de motocross CMRC, Course 6 – Ste-Julie, Québec, 24 et 25 juillet 2010
C’est sous un ciel bleu que la 6e couse de la série nationale de motocross CMRC a eu lieu la fin de semaine dernière à Ste-Julie. En préparation pour la course, les coureurs de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM ont pris le temps de passer chez KTM Canada rencontrer des fans et clients pour le lancement du 350 SX-F vendredi soir. Le champion américain WORCS Mike Brown était présent dans le but de rouler la nouvelle machine KTM pour la première fois au Canada. Il n’a pas déçu en prouvant que la 350 SX-F est très compétitive sur la piste.
La première manche de la série des femmes pour l’est avait également lieu à Ste-Julie et la coureuse de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM Kate McKerroll a pris le départ avec sa KTM 150 SX. La jeune femme originaire de Barrie en Ontario a eu quelques difficultés à sa première course mais s’est bien repris à sa deuxième course finissant 4e au combiné pour la journée.
Pour le départ de la première course en MX2, certains pilotes sont restés coincés dans la barrière sur la ligne de départ. Les coureurs de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM étaient en milieu de peloton après le départ. Eric Nye et Kyle McGlynn ont poussé leur KTM 250 SX-F dans le but de dépasser des coureurs et gagner le plus de positions possibles avant la fin. Ils ont tous les deux réussi à terminer dans le top 10. Pour la deuxième course, les deux coureurs de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM ont bien roulé. Le #12, Éric Nye, a effectué une chute vers le milieu de la course le relayant en 8e position. Il a été en mesure de remonter pour finir en 5e position ce qui lui a donné la 4e place au total pour la journée. Son coéquipier Kyle McGlynn a pris la 10e position au total.
Évidemment, l’événement de la journée a été la première position au total du coureur KTM Duroy Racing, Motosport 4 Saisons, Kaven Benoit sur sa KTM 250 SX-F. En plus de remporter sa première victoire à une course nationale, il a par la même occasion donné à KTM sa première victoire nationale pour la saison 2010. Kaven a eu deux excellents départs. À sa deuxième course, il a rapidement pris la tête et l’a gardée jusqu’à la fin traversant la ligne d’arrivée en 1ère position sous les acclamations de ses nombreux fans présents.
Les coureurs de l’équipe Orange Motorsports KTM ont également obtenu de bons résultats en MX2. Jeremy Medaglia est encore dans la course pour une place sur le podium au classement général de la série et Richard Grey et Nathan Bles continuent de gagner des points et de l’expérience dans la classe Pro ainsi que d’améliorer leur endurance.
En MX1, c’est le coureur de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM Ryan Millar qui a remporté le Holeshot avec sa KTM 450 SX-F. Ses coéquipiers Kornel Nemeth et Mike Brown étaient tous les deux en milieu de peloton au départ. Nemeth a remonté jusqu’en 7e position tandis que Brown a réussi à prendre la 12e position après avoir fait une chute. Pour la 2e course en MX1, Nemeth et Brown ont eu un bon départ, ils étaient respectivement en 3e et 6e position. Les coureurs de l’équipe Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM ont roulé dans le top 10 toute la course. Kornel a traversé le drapeau à damier en 2e position pour prendre la 3e place au total de la journée. De son côté, Mike Brown a terminé en 9e position après s’être battu pendant la majorité de la course pour la 5e position.
En résumé, Ste-Julie a été une excellente course pour KTM Canada et ses commanditaires. Toutes les motos ont bien roulé et les coureurs sont encore en pleine forme pour la prochaine course dimanche prochain à Moncton au Nouveau-Brunswick.
